KNF upholds PLN 20 million fine against XTB
Poland's financial regulator fined XTB PLN 20 million in April 2026 for regulatory breaches. XTB asked for the decision to be reconsidered; in September the KNF kept the fine in place.
Key points
- The KNF upheld a PLN 20 million fine against XTB in September 2026
- XTB had asked the regulator to reconsider the April decision
- We have seen no announcement of restrictions on XTB's licences
Poland's Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has kept in place the PLN 20 million fine it imposed on XTB in April 2026. XTB had asked the regulator to reconsider the decision; in September the KNF confirmed the original ruling.
XTB S.A. is supervised by the KNF in its home market and is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, so the decision is also disclosed to investors. The KNF decision is a financial penalty for breaches it found; we have seen no announcement of any restriction on XTB's licences.
For clients, a regulatory fine is not a sign that deposits are at risk, but it is a fair input when you weigh brokers on safety. We continue to rate XTB's regulation highly because of its listing and its KNF, FCA and CySEC oversight, and we will update this page if the decision is appealed in court.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Each broker publishes its own current loss percentage on its website.
