Forex compound calculator

Compounding means each month's return is calculated on a balance that already includes earlier gains or losses. It works both ways: losses compound too. Use the calculator to test scenarios, not to forecast; no trading return is guaranteed.

How it is calculated

Each month the balance grows by the monthly return, then the deposit is added.

Balance after month n = balance after month n−1 × (1 + monthly return) + deposit

Worked example

1,000 USD growing 1% a month becomes 1,269.73 USD after 24 months. Losing 1% a month leaves 785.68 USD. Adding 100 USD every month at +1% gives 3,967.08 USD, of which 3,400.00 USD is your own money.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 10% monthly return realistic?

Sustained returns like that are extremely rare. Regulators require brokers to publish the share of retail CFD accounts that lose money, and it is typically well above half.

Why include negative returns?

Because losses compound as well. After a 50% loss you need a 100% gain just to get back to the starting balance.

Does the calculator include fees and taxes?

No. Treat the monthly return as already net of spreads, commissions and swaps, and remember taxes on gains in your country.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Each broker publishes its own current loss percentage on its website.
