Best binary options brokers in South Korea
Binary options are not banned for private traders in South Korea, but they sit in a grey area: the regulator does not license them and has issued warnings. We checked which of our three brokers still accept people living in South Korea: all three. Each of them keeps your balance in US dollars, which means paying in KRW always involves a currency conversion.
How we score
Each binary options broker gets five sub-scores out of 5:
Platform (25%), costs and payouts (20%), deposits and withdrawals (15%), support (15%) and transparency and regulation (25%). The overall score is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal. None of these brokers is licensed by a top-tier regulator, which is why their transparency scores are low.
Availability is checked against each broker’s published list of restricted countries. The order of the ranking is set by our authors from their own experience with these platforms, so it does not always follow the scores.
Advertiser disclosure
Broksal is free to use because some brokers pay us a commission when you open an account through our links. It costs you nothing.
Commissions do not affect the facts we publish about regulation, payouts and country availability, which come from the brokers’ own documents and independent sources.

Binary options are high-risk products. Each trade is all-or-nothing: if the price ends on the wrong side, you lose the whole amount you staked. Most people who trade them lose money. Only trade with money you can afford to lose, and start on the free demo account. Nothing here is investment advice, and past payouts do not predict future results.

Is binary options trading legal in South Korea?
There is no law in South Korea that bans individuals from trading binary options, but that is not the same as approval. The FSS has said binary options have no official classification and fall outside its supervision. It treats them as speculative gambling rather than financial products, so problems are left to police.
What this means for you: if something goes wrong with an offshore broker, the regulator in South Korea will not help you recover money, and banks may block or question payments to these platforms. Start with the demo account, deposit only small amounts and keep records of every payment.
None of the brokers here is licensed by Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) / FSC. A dispute would be handled under the broker’s own offshore terms, not by a local authority. Our legality guide shows how we classify each country.
Tax
You are responsible for declaring trading profits under South Korea’s tax rules. Keep your statements and payment history. This is general information, not tax advice.
Paying in KRW
Deposits from a KRW account are converted once on the way in and again when you withdraw. A dollar card or account avoids most of that cost. Payment options depend on the country you choose at registration, and withdrawals usually go back to the method you paid with.
Market hours in Seoul time
| Market | Nov–Mar | Apr–Oct |
|---|---|---|
| Tokyo | 09:00–15:30 | 09:00–15:30 |
| London | 17:00–01:30 | 16:00–00:30 |
| New York | 23:30–06:00 | 22:30–05:00 |
Currency pairs move most while London and New York are both open: 23:30–01:30 in winter and 22:30–00:30 in summer in Seoul. At weekends the platforms switch to OTC quotes they price themselves.
